Tinutong

What is Tinutong?

Tinutong is a traditional Bicolano snack or meryenda made by toasting or roasting rice, corn, or other grains over a fire or a pan. The word "tinutong" comes from the Bikol word meaning "toasted" or "roasted."

It is a simple, affordable, and filling snack that has been enjoyed by generations of Bicolano families. It can be eaten plain or paired with local sweets like latik (coconut caramel).

Where to Buy It

Tinutong is sold in local markets and by street vendors in Camarines Norte. It is a common snack in rural areas and is often sold in small plastic bags at very affordable prices.

Pasalubong Idea: Packaged tinutong makes for a good and inexpensive pasalubong (souvenir) to bring home for family and friends.
